Grade 5 Exhibition
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today Grade 5 students had their first meeting about Exhibition. The Exhibition is the culminating experience for grade five students to commemorate their learning in the Elementary School. This is a student driven celebration of learning and an opportunity for students to take meaningful action. It is a transition: a step from the Primary Years Program into the Middle Years Program of the International Baccalaureate.

In the coming weeks we will be working with the Grade 5 students one afternoon a week to prepare for the Exhibition. The students will be involved in all stages of the inquiry including composing the Central Idea, writing Lines of Inquiry and formulating concept questions.

We will be having a parent information night on Thursday 27th March at 5:30 pm in the Media Centre. By then the students will have written their Central Idea. We will be ready to split the Grade 4/5 students and officially start Exhibition on Monday 31st March.

You will also be given information via an Exhibition blog. You can find this blog at the following address: http://isppgrade5exhibitions.blogspot.com/. Be sure to check it weekly during the Exhibition.

During the Exhibition, students will inquire into real world issues. They will be collaboratively investigating the answers to their questions, sorting out the collected information, making connections back to the Central Idea, going further by taking action. Throughout the inquiry process, students will regularly reflect on their learning through their journals and blogs. When the inquiry process is completed, students will exhibit their work including written examples, oral presentations, use of technology, and performances in any medium.
Students will share their Exhibition journey with all G5 parents on the evening of 22nd May and with the rest of ISPP community during the day on 23rd May. Please mark these dates in your calendar.
We appreciate your support of the children’s learning.

Sincerely,

Ms Bridget, Mr Jon, Ms Alison and Ms Kim
